The short version. One Thousand Buttons is free. You press a button by leaving a message of up to 144 characters in it, and it stays forever. You can press 5 buttons a day. Hateful, adult, illegal or harmful messages are removed.
1. About One Thousand Buttons
One Thousand Buttons (buttons.mojitiles.com) is an independent, free website ("we", "us"). You can contact us at abdel@mojitiles.com.
2. How it works
The page has 1,000 buttons. Each can be pressed only once. You press a button by leaving a message in it, and the button and message then stay on the page. When all 1,000 buttons are pressed, the page is finished and nothing more can be added. You can press 5 buttons a day; new presses arrive at midnight UTC.
3. Your message
- A message can be up to 144 characters, emojis included, with at most one link. Line breaks are turned into spaces.
- You are responsible for what you write, and you confirm that you have the right to post it.
- You can't edit or delete your message once the button is pressed. Check it before you press.
- You allow us to show your message on One Thousand Buttons, and in screenshots or shares that show the site, for as long as the site exists.
4. What you may write
Almost anything: a thought, a joke, a greeting, a link to your own work. You may not write anything that:
- is illegal, or leads to illegal goods, services or activities;
- is hateful, harassing, threatening or discriminatory, or attacks a person or group;
- is sexually explicit, or links to sexual or pornographic content;
- glorifies violence, self-harm or terrorism;
- shares someone else's personal information, or pretends to be someone you are not;
- is a scam, fraud, phishing attempt or deceptive offer;
- infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights;
- spreads malware, tracks visitors' IP addresses, or tries to harm visitors or their devices.
5. Links must be clean
A link must go straight to its destination. Before a button is pressed, we check it automatically: link shorteners, redirects to other websites, IP addresses, links with usernames or passwords, and links to known adult sites and IP loggers are refused. These checks don't catch everything, so the rest is up to you. All links are marked as user-generated and "nofollow".
6. Reports and removal
Anyone can report a message. When 3 different people have reported it, it is hidden straight away. We review hidden messages, and may put one back if the reports were unfounded.
We may also remove any message that breaks these terms, or that we reasonably believe is abusive, harmful, misleading or unlawful, at any time and without notice. A removed message disappears, but its button stays pressed and can't be pressed again.
If you see a message that breaks these rules, you can also tell us at abdel@mojitiles.com.
7. Personal data
You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name or email. To limit presses to 5 a day and to count reports once per person, we store a one-way, keyed hash of your IP address, never the address itself. Messages are public, and they don't show who wrote them.
8. Availability and liability
One Thousand Buttons is free and provided as it is. We do our best to keep it online, but we do not promise that it will always be available or error-free. We are not responsible for the content of messages or the websites they link to.
9. Changes and law
We may update these terms. These terms are governed by Danish law. If you are a consumer, you keep any rights that the law of your own country gives you.
